Audience Feedback- Video
This is a video of our audience feedback, we used a group of people who fit in with our target audience to get a view of what they thought of our music video. By using people who were within our target audience we would be able to analyse whether or not our video was appealing to this group of people. To do our audience feedback we showed the audience our music video, and our ancillary tasks and then we asked them questions which would help us evaluate what we could have improved on or changed to ensure our video was the best it could be.

Lyric interpetation ..
The song 'This Little Bird' has lyrics that we believe are a metaphor for young people who are trying to escape from something and want to do and see everything. The lyrics 'Yes, I am going to see everything I'm going to feel, I'm going to understand something here' this indicates freedom and young people wanting to see the world.
We also think that that lyrics also involve a hidden love story, maybe escaping with a boyfriend. The lyrics 'just to be with you just to be where you are' and 'just to have you lying next to me Oh, I'll be dancing in the fire You'll be laughing at the stars'. These are all romantic lyrics which indicate boyfriends and wanting to run away.

Conventions of a Magazine Advert
The aim of a music magazine advert is to inform and persuade your target audience to purchase the single/album stated.
This magazine advert of a Christian artist Jeremy Camp is seen in popular CCM magazine uses both conventions of a music advert as well as an alternative style to stand out from the norm. One alternative choice made in this magazine advert is the noticeable fact that an image of the artist is not shown.. This is both effective and ineffective. Effective in the sense that since the genre of the music is based on Christian values; the purpose of the music is not the artist but the lyrics and the message. However, if a new artist, their aim is to establish themselves in the music industry (like ours) an image of them is vital to be able to present personality, iconography and the genre of their music.
'In stores & online now' as well as 'Out On...' is seen on many music magazine adverts to inform readers when they can purchase the new album or single. In addition, social networking websites such as Facebook and Youtube are placed on the magazine adverts to inform readers that enables them to communicate and keep up to date with the artist. In the uses and gratifications theory, this is described to be 'surveillance' and being able to gain information about favourite artists.

Magazine advert so far..
Using the same colour splat from the Digi Pak.. we are also considering on using it for our Magazine advert. The conventions of a magazine advert is the name of the artist usually in big bold letters as well as the artist achieving mode of address by looking directly at the camera to stand out when consumers are flicking through pages and grab attention. In addition, icons such as HMV and iTunes to inform where you'll be able to purchase the new single or album. With Web 2.0 now improving, logos such as Twitter, Facebook and Myspace are now being used to appeal to target audiences. For our artist we would be using similar features to ensure that we are reaching the mass and specifically our target audience who are young people that are constantly using websites such as Myspace.

Digpack Page
Here I have experimented by merging both the splattered piece I did earlier and and image we took of the woods. This works well because we are using an image that is seen in the music video and the splattered image that will be seen throughout the digi pak and music magazine. This image can be used for the first inner panel for the digipak - this would make an effective 'bleed image' that follows onto the next. Friday, 10 December 2010
Ancillary Task!
For both our Digi pak and magazine advert.. they needs to be a cohesive theme that links the same ideas. Therefore, to keep in the idea of a creative artist, I have scattered and indian ink on a sheet of paper randomly.
Using bright colours like yellow, blue, green and pink suggests youth and fun - similar to how we want to present our artist.
We will be using this piece as backgrounds on out ancillary tasks and editing it on PhotoShop!

Middle Page of Digipak
This is my first draft of one of the middle panels for the digipak, I used a picture of the landscape that we took and a picture of our artist. I then edited the picture and the background in photoshop and then used indesign to put all of it together. I used the different coloured leaves in the background to make the panel more quirky and different. I also distorted the picture a little to also make it look quirky and to make it stand out. I think the colour scheme of this picture compliment each other but they also contrast with the background. I think it goes with the image that we are trying to express for the artist which is original, quirky and different.

Digipak development.
Here I have made a first draft for our digipak, which will be the middle page of the digipak. As you can see the lyrics to the song 'This little bird' are across the page in a creamy orange along with a bird in the top left corner. Along with a picture of corporation park in the background.

Some improvements we can make on this page is we want to bleed the lyrics across the page and improve the quality of the picture by possible brightening it and enhance it more. We also plan to change it slightly by maybe improving the colour of the writing as it fades in to much with the picture and is unreadable, however this could be a good reference back to brand image and identity.

Digipaks...
This is the first draft of the plan for our digipak, we thought that most of our panels should have a picture of our artist on, this is because we think that she should be our main focus. But with more discussion we thought that maybe on two of the panels we would just have a picture without the artist on it or some of the lyrics bleeding across the page. I am doing one of the middle panels and the panel where the CD is, Jil is doing the other middle panel and front cover whilst Jess will be doing the back and an inside cover.
For my middle panel I am creating a quirky background with a picture of the artist on it and for the panel that holds the CD i have decided to create a background on Photoshop or InDesign and use that for the panel.

Shot List...
For the shoot where we film the narrative side of the story we thought it would be better to have a shot list so that we were more organised and could film to plan and to what we wanted.
- Long shot of girl walking up the street
- Medium shot of someone posting something through the door
- Medium shot of her walking through the door
- Close up of her looking at the invitation
- Medium shot/ Close up of her throwing it on the floor
- Medium long shot of her walking up the stairs
- Medium close up of her looking in the mirror
- Close up and medium shot of her looking in the mirror admiring herself
- Medium long shot coming down the stairs
- Long shot of her walking down the street
This is a basic shot list that we will be changing and also following to an extent when we are filming. We may choose to change some of the shots to ensure that we have a variety of different shot types.

Changes in Filming...
Whilst we were editing our first video shoot we realised that we had made a mistake by filming in widescreen. By doing this it left a black gap at the top and the bottom of the screen. This meant that we were not following the framing world, so having talked about how we were going to rectify this, we decided that we were going to re-film this part of our video. We have decided to do this for continuity reasons and so that our video is consistent throughout. We have planned to film on Sunday the 28th of November in Jil's house where the original video was filmed. We also realised that in the first clip of filming we did the camera was not positioned properly so we cut part of the protagonists head off, we realised that this was acceptable if we were doing a close up, but as the shot was not a close up it was not professional of us to chop the top of her head off. So by filming again we will be able to perfect the shots and shoot it in normal screen rather than widescreen.
